Police have arrested two people in connection with the disappearance of Morgan Bauer, a 19-year-old woman who was reported missing in 2016 after moving to Georgia from South Dakota.
Katelyn Goble was arrested in Peoria, Illinois, and charged with two felonies, concealing death and tampering with evidence, the City of Porterdale (Ga.) Police Department said in a statement shared Saturday on Facebook.
Johnathan Alexander Warren was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing death and misdemeanor tampering with evidence, police said.
On July 27, Porterdale police said they searched a property in Porterdale, Georgia, about 35 miles from Atlanta, at the request of the Atlanta Police Department. The owners of the property were cooperating with the investigation, police said.
“The search has located items of evidentiary interest,” Porterdale police said at the time. “The search warrant was obtained based on credible information and evidence gathered during the course of the investigation.”
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Morgan Bauer was last heard from Feb. 25, 2016
Bauer graduated from Central High School in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and left for Atlanta on Feb. 12, 2016, the Aberdeen (S.D.) News reported, part of the USA TODAY Network.
According to reports at the time, Bauer’s housing arrangements fell through the second day she was in Atlanta, so she stayed at a hotel. She last posted on Facebook and Instagram on Feb. 25, 2016, with one post indicating she had found a job at a strip club, the publication reported.
Bauer was reported missing on March 12, 2016.
